Obama In ’08--It’s Foregone
by Timothy Hopkins, SUNY Cortland, May 21, 2007
The rhetoric among the current “potential” Democratic Presidential nominees has been fierce. Hillary, Obama, Biden, and Edwards have been taking shots at each other like they’ve been hunting with Dick Cheney. However amidst all the trash talk, I’m going to GUARANTEE everyone reading this article that Obama will be our next President. So how can you guarantee who our next president will be almost two years from now? That’s a very good question, you astute reader, you. How can I make such a brave announcement like that with such dogmatic fervor? Well, my friends, that reason is the screw-up in Iraq.
Prior to the invasion, Hillary, Biden, and Edwards all gave the President the green light to invade Iraq. Although they may not have been aware that their heads were filled with garbage, the American public won’t forget that these notable Democrats gave this President the authority to launch one of the biggest military campaign mistakes in recorded history. Yet there was a Democrat who wasn’t wearing blindfolds--Barack Obama. Barack knew that this campaign had an unpredictable price, casualty rate, and the duration the mission would take. Although he wasn’t able to vote for the Iraq War, he still objected to it nevertheless. His objection to the war will give him the Presidency in ’08.
With 3000+ American casualties to date, this country may place some of the blame on the Democrats who voted for this fiasco. No, they weren’t in charge of the War, nor would they have made the same gigantic mistakes that this administration made if they were in charge. But voters will still see that they were wearing blindfolds, and maybe, just maybe, might ask themselves “will they make mistakes like this if they are elected?” Well my friend, that’s exactly what voters will ask themselves in 2008.
In 2004, the year we elected President Ignoramus, Illinois selected Barack Obama over Alan Keyes to represent them in the U.S Senate. A little more than two years later Obama has cast his bid for the Presidency in ’08. Speculations of “the first black President”, and his admitted drug use in the past will all be secondary to his inexperience with foreign affairs. So how can a man with little-to-no foreign experience improve our situation in Iraq? How can he get us out of there without the country descending into chaos and how can he make sure that Al-Qaeda doesn’t follow us home? The answer is Obama’s predictions mentioned earlier in this piece. He knew the unpredictable consequences of invading Iraq, which confirms his knowledge on certain foreign affairs. Not to mention, the best way to gain insight into something you don’t fully understand is to actually do it. So when we elect Obama in ’08 he’ll do just that….
Although there may be a few roadblocks that may perhaps hurt Obama in his run for the White House come 2008, I forsee his half-and-half ethnicity to be the main factor in slowing him down, and the opposition will use this to the fullest extent possible. He’s not really black people so why even vote for him? He has ancestors who were slave owners! Ewwww ahhhhhh. I can only see these types of claims from the right left to attempt to bring down Obama’s close to flawless history.
