Photo Album

Before I came back to school this fall, I found an old photo album. Drawings that I did when I was 11 years old are pasted across the front and back covers like a scrapbook.
Nestled in between the front cover and the first page of pictures is a 1995 Time magazine article on the Beatles. There is also an envelope that contains a letter written to me in 1988, when I was 5 years old.
The first page of the album contains two pictures. One is of a gray winter scene, which includes some trees in the foreground, a snow-covered lake, and a row of trees in the distance. The second picture is of a friend and me eating lunch together.
I flip to the second page. This also contains two pictures: one of me snowshoeing over a boardwalk and the other of me eating breakfast.
Looking across the album’s plastic spiral to page three, there are two more pictures. One is of a birthday party. This picture includes my friend, his dad, and me; the picture is from an earlier time than the previous pictures in the album. The second photo is a yearbook picture on a small, off-white paper. Printed beneath it are the words, “In Remembrance.”
Turning to the last page, a birthday card reads, “After all these years, I still remember your birthday.” I close the album.
