When I write fiction - fantasy, to be specific - I can escape from all of the stressors in my life. Sure, plot demands conflict as well, but it is conflict that I have total control over. My characters rely on me on whether or not they will succeed or fail. I am no longer me; I am Ashe, Chara, Rithe, or Dusk. Their pain is mine and they are my outlets. I exercise my imagination, dreams and interests through them. When I start daydreaming in class about how Ashe would respond to this, I know that they are with me.
